Seth and Eirika

"She's so wonderful, but a princess..." "He's so wonderful, but a knight..."

“She’s so wonderful, but a princess…” “He’s so wonderful, but a knight…”

Just a picture of Seth and Eirika. She turned out nicely, for once, and I like her light fluttery skirt. Seth is less good than the previous picture. Altha (the horse) is just plain weird. Well, besides Seth’s face, his body turned out all right. Eirika is actually not great after all. I changed my mind. Good shoulder pads (pauldrons) but that’s about all. And skirt. Still like the skirt.

Altha is ‘weapons’, more or less, in Kalmeirin. No one would know if I didn’t say, so here you are – a random bit of trivia.

Ephraim vs. Valter

Hah! You and your flying worm won't even be able to touch me!

Hah! You and your flying worm won’t even be able to touch me!

Whoo! Ephraim gets a chance to be cool! He’s facing down Valter the Moonstone outside of the fortress Renvall, which Ephraim just captured with… three men including himself. I don’t really count Orf-… Orson. Yeah, that’s his name. People in the know will know why. Renvall’s supposed to be in the middle of a sort of Crater Lake place. Oh, and Ephraim rules.

I also have an Ephraim story going that promises to be even better than Eirika’s, but it’s only at Chapter 3 and I haven’t actually played Ephraim’s game yet! Isn’t that amazing? I was trying to beat Eirika’s with a different party of characters, but then Kevin saved over it with another of his save files. -_-;;7

Seth and Eirika Ride to Frelia at Night

Romance... with an injured soldier and a very worried princess. And a horse.

Romance… with an injured soldier and a very worried princess. And a horse.

This occurs shortly after the previous picture. Seth was badly hurt, but still managed to whip around, pick up Eirika, and ride away. Valter didn’t follow.
After defeating some random bandits out to capture the princess, the two ride to the neighbouring kingdom of Frelia. Eirika’s best friend Princess Tana lives there. Ephraim’s rival Prince Innes lives there too. And that’s where Eirika’s father, King Fado, wanted her to go. So off they ride without pause through the night. The dots are stars. I rather like this picture; it’s quite good, not counting the tiny arms and hands and the terrible legs.

Eirika’s really beautiful.

It’s hard to draw Seth. He has such distinctive hair that is hard to get right.

And Eirika’s not in love with Seth. Yet.

Y’know, FE 8 has such distinctive colours (although L’Arachel’s hair is honeybrown, not green!) and the sprites (and characters) are so unique compared to the others, FE8 is really a joy to play and a wonder to behold. I love it.

Not even counting the romance!

Prologue: The Fall of Renais

Chapter 1: The Escape

Prologue: The Fall of Renais

My name is Eirika, Princess of Renais, daughter of Fado and twin sister of Ephraim, the crown prince. I have turquoise hair and matching eyes, which, eyes being eyes, seem to have a higher content of blue. At least, that’s what my maidservant tells me. I wear long red boots, a short white dress, a red tunic over that, a short white cloak, and red gloves, and in troubled times like today, yellow armour. On the breastplate is embossed the royal crest of Renais. On my left hand I wear my most precious possession: a bracelet that my father gave to me.

My father’s kingdom was under attack from our good friends of Grado. This bizarre atrocity had been continuing for less than a week, but our provinces fell swiftly and our very castle was, at the moment, beseiged. To compound my worries, my dear brother was missing. He’d gone off to fight Grado as soon as the first word came…

I raced down the stairs from my chambers and into the throne room.

My father was giving instructions to General Seth, the youngest of our paladins at age 22, five years older than I. His mare, Altha, pawed the tiles nervously. Something bad was happening; horses were allowed in the throne room, but only in the most dire of need.

“You must see her safely to Frelia,” my father commanded, and I knew instantly he was speaking of me. Frelia was another neighbouring kingdom.

“Yes, Sire,” Seth answered, bowing his head. Then, he glanced up and looked at me. Continue reading

Seth Defends Eirika

Lances beat swords. Who will win this fight? Oh well, it's dramatic tension.

Lances beat swords. Who will win this fight? Oh well, it’s dramatic tension.

This is from the very beginning of Fire Emblem 8: The Sacred Stones, which is a stand-alone in the Fire Emblem series. It follows the quest of Princess Eirika (above, left) of Renais, her twin brother Ephraim, the Commander of Renais – his name is Seth, and he’s the guy getting skewered – don’t worry, it’s not lethal – and various other folks. Eirika is a gentle soul but a great fencer, Ephraim is a super-cool lanceman, and Seth is the first Jeigan character (old, ugly, EXP hog, and useless stats) to be young, handsome, and have useful stats! He’s still an experience point hog at the beginning, but only because he begins as a powerful unit whereas Princess Eirika is level 1.

In this picture, the insane enemy general Valter Moonstone is intent on capturing the terrified princess, but dutiful Seth charges to the rescue. The swirls on the right are more wyverns – dragonlike creatures – and the smoke behind the hill is the burning of Castle Renais.

Also, this means I should start posting my super-sappy Eirika story. Here.
