Prince Cedric of Almarlia

I am noble-minded! Plus I have a big lance.

MY BROTHER THINKS THIS IS THE BEST PICTURE I EVER DREW.

I don’t know why. I think it might have to do with the fact that it’s of his lord-class hero character of his Fire Emblem dream game that he’s writing. This youth’s name is Cedric, and he’s the prince of Almarlia. That’s about all I know about the game, besides the fact that his Jeigan-type paladin-class character is called Lartan. Also, I shaded. And did lots of detail.

I’ve done concept art for a bunch of guys: my favourite so far is a sage-class named Shale with creamy long crinkly hair in a very extremely loose ponytail tied with black velvet ribbon.

Anne

Boo!

Boo!

I like this picture. It’s of a hawk laguz named Anne. I made her up because I like hawks, and I like pretending I am one – when no one’s around. This is opposed to my usual fashion of creating characters: a) so-and-so is handsome, so they obviously need someone to share their life with, and b) this NPC needs a name and background because he/she looks so darn cool.

Anyhow, Anne is a perky young hawk – not over 50 – who cleans the king’s chambers, hence the mop and bucket. She is perhaps the only one of my characters to have a bare midriff. Hey, she’s a hawk, which means athletic, and they live in a fairly southerly climate, where it’s rather warm. And short hair is something new, too. Her most memorable feature is the fact that her right wing is deformed, from birth.

Hawk Laguz + Ike

Flap...

Flap…

This picture is of… King Tibarn of the hawks consulting with Ike, and Janaff to get in the way- er, help. They demonstrate their incredible shapeshifting power. Ike begins to get a plan. He’s supposed to be going ‘hmm’ in the second half.

Pfft, yeah right. As if he’d forget they can transform. I can’t draw hands.

Reyson and Leanne

Angelic herons

Leanne and Reyson in portrait, except that I didn’t know how to draw Leanne! So her hair is completely wrong. Darn. But Reyson, on the other hand, my brother believes good enough to pass as official art – after colouring. …I don’t think so, but it’s a pretty good drawing of him. And I rather like drawing wings, even if I have no idea how to do it properly.

Sain and Salir

He's a sweetie

He’s a sweetie

Happy Valentine’s Day! About six months late… This is Salir, I guess, and Sain in the corner, and I drew it for Valentine’s Day. Salir’s body is too big for her head, and that’s why she looks wierd. I’m not sure… I think Salir’s hair is shorter somehow… I never have a clear picture of what she looks like, just how she acts.

Kent and Sain

Those horses are seriously undernourished. What are they, ponies? And don't get me started on the state of those men's legs!

This picture is of Kent and Sain, on deformed horses. I never have any idea what size horses are supposed to be. Epona in Twilight Princess is gloriously massive, but this is pre-TP, and horses aren’t my specialty anyway. In fact, this is a pretty bad picture.

And seriously, I didn’t know how to draw knees consistently, if at all. When I find out, I ‘ll let you know.

Anyway, hooray for Kent and Sain!

Also, they’re wielding the opposite weapons of their character art on purpose.

Soren and Charlotte in Serenes Forest

Eami sanagi ku nana not…

Fire Emblem 9: Trail of Blue Flames is the latest Fire Emblem (soon to be superceded by Fire Emblem 10: Goddess of Dawn) and the last one for Gamecube. By this time I had figured out that, Eliwood notwithstanding, Fire Emblem characters try to be named with real names. Some of the names may not be exactly common, (L’Arachel, Lyndis, Ephraim, Elincia), some of them may be as ordinary as Kyle, Wil(l), Priscilla (apparently the easiest-to-misspell-name-in-the-universe), Joshua, Natasha…

Anyway, Soren, the withdrawn mage, and Charlotte, a very young OC with a troubled past (orphaned and kidnapped by bandits, etc.) are watching Reyson and Leanne (go, heron-folks!) restore their (the herons’) anscestral home of Serenes Forest from a grey, withered mess into a lush jungle. Reyson has the greatest voice. The restored forest is on the left, and they’re watching the golden lights – the scratchy, squiggly things behind them in this picture – head off into the distance on the right, leaving restored forest behind it. Those golden lights move quickly, you know. You can see my version of the galdr here.

This is about the only picture Charlotte appears in because she’s not a very important character, even to me. She has dark blue hair and blue eyes. I think. I’m not sure. Basically all she’s good for is being a sort of Ike-Ilyana combo – good at drawing Soren out in the same way that Ike does, and having an Ilyana-ish personality – sans ravenous hunger. She acts as Soren’s shy, little-seen servant. By her own choosing. Because Soren doesn’t bother taking care of himself. He’s pretty thrifty. He’s had his own troubled past. And I didn’t know yet how to draw his clothes.

Prince Marth of Altea

This is a portrait of Marth, and I tried to shade it, but it’s not very good. And I had a terrible time scanning it. The squigglies on his collar aren’t very good. Neither is his hair.

Today, I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet after I’m finished this. I will probably try drawing my Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain book. I’ve gotten to the pure contour drawing part! My drawing of a hand looked like a hand, but my drawing of an orchid looked like a squiggle. That’s because the parts aren’t lined up and are disjointed and overlapping. I think I’m improving.
