Warhammer comic page 3

warhammercomicpg3

This page was just an excuse to draw Elfin, really. As you may have noticed, he’s really handsome. So, other than that, it… doesn’t do anything. Sorry. I meant it to introduce the units, and give Teraluin some more character, but in the end it was pretty useless… oh wait, Falamir sees something. That’s really important! Remember that! Except then there’s a rather pointless cut to the blue-eyed commander and Falamir’s helmet changes design between panels. Oh, whatever.

I think this may have been the first battle my spearmen took part in.

Check back tomorrow to see if Falamir’s helmet changes anymore! Also to see what he saw, if anything!

This was a true scenario, up to a point… I’m not sure what the original circumstances were, but I do remember quite clearly that my mage (here given the name Linyo which means ‘pool’, and whom I do not have a model that resembles these images to represent him – I just drew a generic mage for the comic. I don’t even remember which model I used. It was three years ago, okay?) really really wanted that Jewel of the Dusk, which is only 15 points and gives him an extra power die to cast spells with. The Starwood Staff, on the other hand, gives him +1 to the result of his roll, though if he rolls double 1s the spell still backfires. I got really lazy on the second panel, but I spent all my creativity making the silly chibi unhappy Linyo and the resigned Teraluin.

Flairé: Teraluin looks like me, just blonde and blue eyed.

Good call. There might actually be a reason for that.

Flairé: Really? Besides the fact that I’m the basic reference for your basic male elf?

No, that would be it.

Check back tomorrow to see if these goofy guys ever get underway and out to that battlefield!

turmith2icon This is a short (10-page) comic I drew based on a Warhammer battle between my High Elves and my brother’s Bretonnians. The guy on the right is my famed “Blue-eyed Commander”, here given the name Teraluin, which means “Straight-blue”. The guy on the left is his “Green-eyed Second”, here given the name Elehtyar, meaning “Star-spearman”. These are not ‘canon’ names, just names I gave to them for the sake of them being able to speak to each other normally. I drew these two frames on separate pieces of paper, so as to get greater detail. Which I didn’t because I was lazy. But they did come out slightly better than if I had done it all on one piece of paper. I was intending to colour the backgrounds. Tuesday night I just scanned them all and then yesterday I pasted them together and added text. I don’t have Photoshop on my laptop, so getting it not to look horribly shoddy was a bit of a challenge. Next, y’know, I need Photoshop and an art tablet and then I’ll be unstoppable.

Check back tomorrow for the continuation of this thrilling set-up! : P

Protector

"Haaaaalp! I'm getting eaten by this cloak!"

“Haaaaalp! I’m getting eaten by this cloak!”

Wow, I attempted perspective!

This is a picture of Flairé, my guardian and guide, walking with me through the dirty, grungy, dark-shadowed city full of unsavoury types that is the path of life. He and I didn’t come out too badly, and neither did the background… now I just have to finish the random unsavoury NPCs that are just standing around, brawling or whatever. And put a zillion times more detail on everything. And find that tilt for Flairé’s head, and then COLOUR the blamey thing. Hey, I used a ruler. That’s part of my success. : D

Thirdly, I stayed up way too late again and finished Chapter 3 of The Tactician and the Jewel. Now I have to figure out just how one of the good guys caves so quickly in just one chapter, how the boss reveals so much about his boss, what the king thinks about all of this, what point Ocery has in intimidating someone who is trying to hang out of the story, and how to give Andy and Frank a nice big minor part.

Flairé practice sketch for The Guide

My mouth is crooked and you can see my scalp. What have you done to me?

My mouth is crooked and you can see my scalp. What have you done to me?

This is, as it says and appears, a practice sketch of Flairé. I was trying to get a rather tricky angle. His chin is (supposed to be) raised proudly, just so you can see the bottom of it, and his head is (also supposed to be) tilted just enough to give him that air of nonchalance and complete coolness. Coolness as in control of the situation, not awesomeness, which he has anyway. In all of them I either tilted too much or not enough. His mouth is way over on the side because that was part of the head-tilt. Also practiced cloak folds, which is what all those curvy lines are. You’ll see what it’s a practice sketch for when tomorrow comes, with another practice sketch. I never drew the final picture. Maybe I should try that one of these years. But I want to draw Ceniro pictures first. That’s my goal for today, along with piano and organ practice. And beating Rigwald and playing a siege game with my brother. And listening to all of Jon’s salsa music. I can’t wait to find out which one is the Princessa song.

I watched 2001: A Space Oggiby last night. Dad says that most or all of the ape actors made their only movie appearance ever in the ape scene. I rather prefer the book version of how Dave Bowman manages to survive and turn off HAL, and I definitely prefer the book version of the Star-gate thingy, but the very very end is waaaaay better. He doesn’t blow anything up! I wrote a poem about it. I’ll post that tomorrow because I didn’t actually get around to writing it down. Man, Ligeti is creepy. They used three pieces in the movie to great effect. And I love the space-craft models! They’re so cool! Although a bit… 60’s, wasn’t it? Y’know, the best scene in the hulle muvie is the part where the space shuttle is docking with the double ring space station. It’s gorgeous, it’s perfect, it’s the best space scene in movie history, and the Danube waltz soundtracking it somehow gives it a romance, a lilt, a dance-like feeling itself. I love it.

Family

Guess who!

Guess who!

This picture makes me go SQUEE!! everytime I see it. Can you guess why? Kalmaeirin children ftw!! It’s Zela and Flaer, and Flairé is the toddler on the right, and Flaria is the baby in arms. So cute! Especially Flairé! And Zela is beautiful and serene, yet recognizable as Zela. That makes me very proud.

I love this picture. It is my darling. (picks up ten-year-old Flairé and squeezes him)

Flairé: That’s a very nice doll you have there…

My Friends

"Don't worry, Illinia! We're here to save you from the evil blue bug aliens!" "Uhhhh, thanks!"

“Don’t worry, Lashyoillinia! We’re here to save you from the evil blue bug aliens!” “Uhhhh, thanks!”

Soooo…. this one needs a whack of explanation. Actually it doesn’t, never mind. I had a weird dream, a weird weird dream, and the end of it was mixed up Independence Day and Star Fox for GC. I was running around an increasingly ruined city full of skyscrapers and green hills, trying to dodge blue diamond insectoid aliens shooting at me. With what, I forget, which I regret because it was kind of cool. I also regret that I can’t remember if I was shooting back or not.

Anyway, when I was getting kind of outnumbered, Flairé and Flaria showed up and pulled me under cover, and then we sat just about like this for a few seconds. It was nice. I forgot my glasses again. But Flaria was wearing a tunic, not her usual gown. I’m still not happy with this picture. Flairé’s upper half is okay, and bits of us other two, but on the whole it’s not right anatomically and it doesn’t look like us. How dissatisfying.

Lisztomania

Whoohoo. I'm thrilled. -_-7

Whoohoo. I’m thrilled. -_-7

I have to say… sweatdrop. Y’know, that anime convention that an embarrassed or exasperated character has a large rain-drop shape on the back/side of their head.

This picture is a long-running joke at school… One of my friends just loves the movie “Lisztomania”. Which begins straight away with something I don’t want to see. Apparently a metronome is involved, and then I stopped listening to the preview discussion. So, this friend holds a party once a year where everyone (everyone interested) all goes to watch it. lx-sama once asked if I was going, and I replied “I’d rather gouge my eyes out with a rusty screwdriver first”. That inspired him to a fit of that deep chuckling giggling that sets everyone in the area either giggling too or backing away slowly. It’s a little sinister. Very gratifying, personally. A different time, I told him I would come if my head was swathed in so much duct tape I could hear nothing and see nothing. I think. Correct me if I’m wrong, guys? Anyway, there was some talk of duct tape and eyeballs, but I don’t really remember what happened. All I really remember is this picture, in which Flairé kindly did swath my head in duct tape and let lx-sama drag me off hyperly. Hooray for excited chibis. You can see I misspelled Liszt the first time. Pickles. This picture did amuse lx-sama greatly, so that objective was accomplished.

Sort of mixed media; Flairé is in pencil because he’s the most realistic. I love Flairé. He takes such good care of me.

lx has shiny hair.

Trail of Broken Hearts

Some of these lovely ladies are either immortal or underage, y'know...

Some of these lovely ladies are either immortal or underage, y’know… or both

So, this picture is a concept that’s been in my head for a long, long time. It’s that the Legend of Zelda series is full of beautiful (or not) women, and they all love Link, while Link the Hero himself only sees Princess Zelda and his duty to her and the kingdom. So, I’m afraid that I did a terrible hack-job on this picture, but I’ll just count it a sketch for now. He’s supposed to be walking down a road (in a city, in my head, but for some reason it’s in the countryside heading towards a crimson-gold sunset. And there are supposed to be absolute crowds of women lining the sides of the road, not just the scattered figures above, each of them named or nameless NPCs that love Link and are ultimately disappointed, while he follows his sun, his light, the very thought of Princess Zelda. Self with wings

Ooh, sweet! A haircut and contacts AND wings!

Ooh, sweet! A haircut and contacts AND wings!

This is a picture I drew soon after getting a haircut and a long time after this picture, which has shorter hair and wings. After drawing the big figure, I realized that I had glasses, so I drew the top head to clarify for my satisfaction what I looked like, sort of kind of. I suspect a great deal of the whole picture is stylized. Nice wings. I wish I did have those.
