Swirly Ephraim in colour

IT’S DONE WHOOOO

Oooh, a big coloured picture. I did one. Took me multiple days, but it’s better than the other ones that I was doing a while ago. I really tried to make the lighting look right. It was hard and is still lacking (though good for a beginner). But I discovered how to do the sparkly tool and also I used a filter on the background.

Sorry for taking so long. I know I said I was working on it but then I got busy. Busier.

Apologies for everyone who has been taking my raving about the Tour. I’ll shut up now, I’ll really try. I just love it so much, and not many people around here will let me fill their ears with my opinions. 🙁

Eros and Psyche

Them's bedroom eyes, Eros...

Them’s bedroom eyes, Eros…

Ooh, possible upcoming project for winter! A webcomic retelling of the tale of Eros and Psyche, which is probably my favourite Greco-Roman myth. Psyche is the worried looking girl and Eros is the sparkly semi-transparent god peeking at her behind her back.

We discussed this legend today in Greek and Latin Roots of English, and I abruptly got the idea for a webcomic, so I went home and drew this right away.

This is only a preview of the cover; the finished cover will be much more sparkly and colourful and pretty. This is just a quick sketch to get my ideas down. The comic itself will probably be in b/w so as to save time. There will be chibis! Despite Venus being the goddess of physical interpersonal relations and Eros her son being the god of pretty much the same thing, it will be a family friendly webcomic. Also people will more or less be wearing clothes and the worst language you will get will probably be “Aw, crud”.

And now I am going to go watch Andy – I mean, le Tour, and see if Tyler wins a sprint today yay!

It's... a HAND!!!

It’s… a HAND!!!

Hi! Preview of the painting I’ve been working on. Internet cookies to those who figure out what it’s of!

Things to be finished on this painting: weapon, background, and ambiance. Whoo!

I found out that painting shiny gold is easier than I thought it would be… maybe it doesn’t look like the pros, but it turned out better than I thought it would. You’ll have to wait to see that, though.

Elfin in colour

Whooo! It’s another colour thingy, made with my tablet yesterday! I put up both versions… the one that is plain and then one with a primitive attempt at forest-y lighting. I was going to put stronger shadows on his face but I got sidetracked so you get the same old boring flat lighting. Whatever.

This is a colour version of this picture, and it is of this guy.

Ceniro colour portrait

Y hello thar

Y hello thar

Hey, a colour thing! A thing I did yesterday! It’s of Ceniro. I was messing around with Photoshop now that I have my tablet working again. I am going to be doing a bunch of colour pictures over the next few weeks as I find out how to paint. This picture only took about an hour or something, so I’m looking forward to doing bigger pictures. I picked a bunch of pencil sketches from the archives that would do well with some colour, some of them going back to about 2004 or so. Maybe I’ll start with that one. Maybe not; it would benefit from me having some actual knowledge.

Soooo…… I’m going to learn realism, hopefully. This picture is colourful, but it’s pretty plastic! Or I could learn how to colour in a cartoony style… like Wayrift… There are a few pictures I’m going to do in greyscale, too! <3

Sword’s Innocence rough cover sketch 1

Rah, said the dragon.

Rah, said the dragon.

Hey, guys! So about that book that would need to be submitted before July 1st or whatever to get a free copy from CreateSpace… well, this is my rough draft of the cover. I’m planning to get someone else to paint it ‘coz that would be cool, but I need something to show them what to do, right? So this is from this chapter, a few paragraps in. Though I’m going to rewrite the book, I’m leaving this scene in. I was also going to have a ‘dramatic confrontation’ cover, where Zela, in green, sword in hand, is confronting… Muila, in a red dress? who is looking at her disdainfully from the top of some small steps… in a dark location. But this one is WAY COOLER so I drew it first.

I used my dragon-drawing book, too!

So… in the foreground is Zela on Silver the dragon, and chasing them are three (I only put two) dragons, and then the brown spiky thing is the city, and there’s a road leading past it and to it, and there’s one of those amazing blue-green lakes nearby (there is no food colouring in Canadian Rockies water, folks! Just in case you were wondering) and the brown, rather barren mountains (green in the valleys) stretching back to green mountains and then blue, with a glimpse of the green plains waaaaaaay over on the left, and dark stormclouds capping it all. And then there’ll be a title with a twisty border and a back summary.

This is the finished version of this picture, which I drew specifically for the purpose that it now serves as the ‘logo’ or ’emblem’ of my website. I realized tonight that I forgot about it. So here you are! It took me a long time to colour, especially Flaer’s hair. I used Photoshop 5 and a mouse. I realize his eyes are rather huge now but hey! You can tell they’re green. Which is good. Less happy about the cloth, but I guess it’s all right for my skill level. Grass was a total cop-out (green paint bucket, some broad dodge and burn, and then put the ‘pencil sketch’ filter on heavy or something like that) but I dunno how to do grass in Photoshop. Aur scribble

Lion-man is stoic man

Lion-man is stoic man

I felt like posting something! The only thing I have left to do today is practice (and study Latin and play Guild Wars – Kessex Peak is still waiting!) so I decided to put SOMETHING UP. Especially since I’m bored and I’ve been listening to Kalmaeirin playlists on my iTunes for the last two hours while I wrote my Linguistics paper for this week.

Soooo… this is the first picture I drew with Corel Painter, with the pencil tool and my glorious tablet, and it is of Aur from Dreigiau. It’s not very good, so I didn’t send it to Aywren. I mean, it’s better than the last picture of Aur I drew. But still not really good enough. Though I think it’s decent enough to be posted. The scribble of Link I did a few weeks ago, though… X P That will not be posted. Ugh.

I think I gave Aur too much eyelashes.

Cheers!
