I’m done. I’m done, I’m done, I’m done. I finished a thing. It’s been a long time since I finished a big thing like this. (No epilogue, unless someone demands it. But no one’s going to demand it. :3 )
What’s the next thing to finish? Hmmmm… Well, my paper for school, but that’s a little thing. It is very little. This thing clocked in at over 110 pages and over 45,000 words (if I’d written that in a month, DecemberWriMo, lol) but I only wrote the last 20,000 in the last couple of weeks.
Flairé: Only, she says. Heh.
(For comparison, the paper is 8 pages max.)
In the future, I also have the old Zelda fic to finish, as well as the Fire Emblem 7 fics. I would like to finish the old stuff before the newer stuff, you know? It feels more right. But I am intending to finish the Star Wars NaNo next November, and I’m intending to rewrite parts of Esgalwen’s Story so that the ending can happen.
And then there’s those two webcomics…
One thing at a time!
Kayyyy second last chapter, here we go! One more!
My sleep cycle is heading west. I’m not sure how to stop it, or even if I want to chase after it. Maybe I’ll try and catch it when it comes back from the east.
I forgot what else I was going to say here. I had things, but they’re gone now.
I’m not sure why I put in the long introduction to this chapter, with Ephraim waking up and everything. Maybe a bit of a breather, before these intense chapters? But they’re not quite as intense as they should be, because Ephraim is very pragmatic and while he’s a bit temperamental, he’s not very demonstrative in this story. Oh, who am I kidding? He’s kind of a boring protagonist when I write him. He’s more interesting than this! I promise you! : P
Someone pointed out the fact that if no one dies, it’s not very tense. Unfortunately it’s a fic based on a game in which it is possible to save every single party member except in cutscenes, so… I’m savin’ ’em.
Also Eirika’s Story is really, really terrible at this corresponding point. I would not suggest reading it ever again. : P This story may not be genius, but it’s better than Eirika’s… I matched it up to the new Frelia’s Finest instead. Thank you, Someone, for teaching me how to write combat better than before.
We’re getting close here.
I’m slightly happier with the action in this chapter, for all I threw it out in a few hours. With an Imgur break. It’s not fantastic, but it’s better. It’s certainly better than Eirika’s Story. Oh, Eirika… “we fought hard, and we won! Yay!” that’s how she sees all this fighting. Blah.
Going to practice for a bit, and then when I return… perhaps the last two chapters? That would be awesome. All right! Here goes.
Going to finish this story today. Gonna do it.
Here’s a lol for you…
Ummm. Not much else to say. I’m not super-happy with this chapter. It doesn’t flow; doesn’t show Ephraim’s tactical sense very well. Perhaps next chapter, when they’re all in Rausten. After all, Ephraim’s the tactical genius. I’m not. I know a writer has to pretend to be all things, including a genius, but… mehhhhhhh. I’m just going to finish this story and then we can all forget that I ever wrote it, mmkay? Except that I will have written it. Big long practice story. Huzzah.
I levelled up in piano again. Going to get to the next level by the end of the week. I can do this kind of intense practice schedule! I always wondered. XD Now let’s keep doing this intense practice schedule until my recital! : D
Well, there’s a chapter of Ephraim’s Story. Four more to go? Hoping to get finished this week. Shouldn’t be too hard now that I’ve found a suitable source of writing music (AC2 OST, whoo). For some reason, in this chapter and the corresponding chapter of Eirika’s Story, Ephraim is the introspective one, and Eirika is the one who notices the battle. Although… in Eirika’s Story, it’s a pretty stupid battle, based on the fact that all my chars were wildly overpowered compared to the enemy grunt troops. I should rewrite that. But I like Ephraim’s introspection, so I’ll probably just leave it.
While going over this, I found two places in the corresponding chapter of Eirika’s Story where I used reflexives incorrectly. This is terribly embarrassing to me, as reflexives are currently a peeve of him when used incorrectly. To sum up: a reflexive pronoun (myself, itself, themselves) is a pronoun used as a direct object of a verb that is acted by and upon the subject. E.g. It cleaned itself. Any other use of a pronoun ending in ‘-self’ is incorrect, but many people don’t know that. That’s why you frequently hear people saying things like “If you have any questions, just ask (Joe or) myself”, unaware that this doesn’t make them sound more formal or intelligent. In fact, it just makes them sound grammatically ignorant. Equally unfortuantely, this doesn’t bother anyone except grammer nazis/paladins. (The correct form would be “…just ask (Joe or) me.” It sounds more informal, but it’s actually not, because it’s correct.)
So anyway, I fixed them. :3
Okay, so I wrote another chapter. That’s all you’re getting for tonight… But that should be plenty? XD Anyway, if you like Ephraim, that snarky little badass prince (as opposed to Innes, the snarky big badass prince…? I think both of them are going to kill me for that XD), stay tuned, because we only have FIVE chapters left. Whoohoo. And most of the plot is done, so it will be slightly more combat in the combat-to-talking ratio.
…I’m gonna have to actually beat Scorched Sands in order to write good battles, aren’t I? XD Well, I can steal a bit from the new Frelia’s Finest, and a bit from Eirika’s Story, but not much because I wasn’t good at battles back then. I probably still am not, but I’m slightly better than I was then.
Okay. I better get some rest. Between the insomnia and the busy day tomorrow, I’m going to be completely wiped on Monday. G’night, folks.
Okay… I’ve been sitting on this chapter for a while. It was almost done, but I wanted to check the dialogue with the game just to be sure.
And then Valter killed Neimi, and I was like “ehhhhhhhYOUTUBE”, so that’s what I’ll do until I feel like beating the crap out of Valter. Just gonna watch the dialogue on YouTube. I found a playthrough that seems to feature a British voice actress or something. At least, she sounds British, and she does good voices. Also snarky side comments. And apparently her brother is helping? Anyway, it’s entertaining and is research!
Next chapter shouldn’t take too long. Can’t promise you anything, though.
I should draw Ephraim. He’s kinda cool.
This chapter, and subsequent chapters, may suffer from “previously-written terrible dialogue syndrome”, because now it has to fit in with Eirika’s story that I wrote when I was a teenager or whatever. Still, I have decided I’m going to finish this story this December, so here you are. 😛
