Okay so I got obsessed with Michael Jackson and how he writes awesome songs and he can dance like no one else on the planet and his sexy little butt and his cute adorable face (pre-facelifts more so) and then GULLAC got wind of it and now he WON’T STOP DANCING and he made me try to draw him like 6 times over the weekend and this was the only attempt that worked out even remotely. *deep breath* Continue reading

Hrulash sparring
So I’m drawing a totally unrelated picture for someone else, when this guy comes up to me.
“Hey,” he says. “I need you to draw a picture of me.”
“Hrulash, what are you doing here? The Rifted Riders are off-duty tonight.”
“So? I need a picture.”
“Hrulash, I don’t even have any ideas for you at this exact moment…”
“Doesn’t matter. I’ll come up with something. Just… draw me.”
*sigh* “Well if you insist… it’s a good thing you’re pretty…”
“What was that???”
“Nothing, nothing!” *begins drawing with anime sweatdrop leaking out of head*
He won’t even tell me why he wants this picture. Attention, most likely. : P
He says it’s from sparring practice in Quintus. Obviously this is human!Hrulash and not elf!Hrulash. Elf!Hrulash wouldn’t be so nice about it.
Hrulash and Tseo
My two dragonriderboys, in their AU setting of the Rifted Riders (which in itself in its current incarnation is an AU of the original RR, which was set in a sort of bastardized FFIV Blue Planet which was partly Wayriftian and partly very much not). I’m working on a story to go with this painting. This depicts them just before they met their dragon partners, when they were two semi-irresponsible (can you imagine Hrulash being irresponsible? NO YOU CANNOT) noble brats running around a city in Quintus, getting in trouble, honing skills they never imagined they’d seriously use in real life. Continue reading
My Face
For a project I’m working on.
More art coming soon.
For me it was Thursday
Mathaning
Messed around a bit with Corel Painter 12 again. I’ve found a really nice blend brush, but I’m a little wary of the fact that it doesn’t work ‘properly’ unless all the colours I want to blend are on the same layer, which is a thing I am used to doing. I’m a little paranoid of it, in fact, because I like to layer things so that I can move them around independantly, and if I really mess something up, I can just get rid of it later without having to redo everything. Anyway, I might work more on this picture later – it can be better. But I’m impatient, and I want to get something that looks finished as fast as possible, so I turn out a half-baked job on things like his face. And, well, everything, really. This picture was somehow inspired by Sarah Ellerton’s picture of Tam that I commissioned a couple years ago, hence the blurry foresty background. Someday I might paint as good as her. In the meantime, need to draw more shirtless boys, omnomnom. Mathaning doesn’t mind. He’s all right with that. He’s a goodnatured fellow.
Two new pictures with new paint program
So Corel Painter 12 was on sale yesterday… for 50% off… which meant it was only ridiculously priced, as opposed to super-ridiculously priced. So I got the trial version, and drew a bizarre picture of Gyoriing. (Shush, I haven’t drawn in about a month.) I tried out a few different brushes here, including pencil, digital airbrush, art marker, and digital watercolour.
I also drew a terrifying picture of Gullac, but you don’t get to see it. : P Continue reading
Rifted Riders, shopping
Dragon Race
Tonight’s picture is a little miniature inspired by this awesome soundtrack. Basically, Tseo just met Hoarwilk for the first time, and she’s like “come on my back and we’ll go flying together, little elf!” So he gets on, and then they see Tseo’s buddy Hrulash and his new dragon friend Garekhen, and they’re like “LET’S RACE”. So they pick the top of that big impressive mountain that’s hard to distinguish from the clouds, I just realized, and they have to go through a stormy cloud layer. Garekhen flinches in the storm, but Hoarwilk doesn’t, and everybody bursts into the sunlight over the mountain and just whoops their heads off like sports fans and it’s all very glorious and everything.
So I drew a picture of it. : D Using my new favourite ‘messy’ brush, even for the dragons and people, just at a smaller size. And yes, Hoarwilk is smaller than Garekhen. Hard to tell? Maybe.
And yeah! That’s about it! : D
X and Y
So this is what happens when Xanda and Yoia run into each other at the bar… Instant friendship? Yoia hasn’t gotten her alcohol yet, but that was the first thing she was going to do.She just got distracted by this young lady with great fashion sense. (…and yes, Yoia really is that ripped. This is her drinking outfit. Easier to flip tables in this than her court robes, which are still made for buttkicking, really. …I wonder what her war armour looks like? Probably more fur.)
Laekna, Xanda’s potential romantic interest, is in the background on the left, doing some reading, but she can sense her healing services may be of use later in the evening when tables start flying. And she is not impressed by the idea. Nu, Yoia’s husband, is on the right, himself resigned to the inevitable.
This picture was a nice break from reality. I may not have a lot to do, but my brain is offering me energy ultimatums and holding my self-esteem hostage. So I draw and write.
