WHAT YOU DOIN’ WITH A BLACK AND WHITE POSTER IT’S S’PPOSED TO BE GREEN

Actually, that would be this year’s recital poster. …If I ever get around to taking it. See, it needs to be in a pine forest near sunset. Which means fall because spring never gets around to that sort of atmosphere by the time that recitals and juries are on.

My recital poster for last year was okay. It was a little last-minute, which is all my fault. But I had this specific image in mind. So I will do it this year. Continue reading

Hollas

Playing on a half size... you're doing it...?

Playing on a half size… you’re doing it pretty good…?

And this is Hollas, violinist virtuoso and composer extraordinare, as I saw him at one of the violin class recitals, I think. His hair was shiny and made me want to draw it. But I drew his violin much much too small and never got around to fixing it (hence the arrow that says ‘fix’). I drew the piano in the background, but it was too distracting so I removed it again. And it doesn’t really look like Hollas because I didn’t actually use a real-life reference. But it’s supposed to be Hollas.

Did I say that Kim has a fantastic cute haircut? Kim has a fantastic cute haircut.

Sleeping Angel

Sleeping in the music basement - a common pasttime, though not necessarily for angels.

Sleeping in the music basement – a common pasttime, though not necessarily for angels.

Uhhhmmmm… this is a picture of a friend of mine that I got from a certain social networking website. So, drawn with a reference… didn’t stop his hair from coming out incredibly plasticy. And then I drew wings just for fun. I like wings. I should draw all my friends with wings and see what they look like. : D

Woot, Flairé shirt! I had to redraw the top of his head because it wasn’t high enough… When you make a race with long noses, it somehow shoves their eyes up higher than half-way up the head. Which is too high.

Note to Gullac: Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

Gullac: (with matches in hand) Awwwwwww……

The Angel Gabriel from heaven came

...His wings of drifted snow, his eyes of flame (sorta)

…His wings of drifted snow, his eyes of flame (sorta)

Wow, we’re less than a year behind! Exciting. Maybe. Anyway, this is a picture drawn based on the Christmas hymn of the same title. It’s an exotic image, wings of snow and eyes of flame. But my interpretation didn’t work this time. Well, maybe the wings worked sort of, but the eyes didn’t really work. Also his hair was supposed to be that curly Greco-Romanesque style hair, but you can’t really tell, can you. And his robe wasn’t supposed to look wrinkley, just drapey. Oh well. But it does sort of look like he’s glowing, which is good. I used colouring pencil all over this, even if you can’t tell apart from the eyes.

Today I remembered I have some basic colouring markers and I got the urge to start my Flairé T-shirt that I want to make. I drew the front image, which is based on this picture (bwahahaha), and coloured it and everything. Now I’m working on the back image which is a portrait of Flairé himself and the pencil sketch has turned out rather well. Now let’s see if the inking and colouring turns out well! (*is nervous*)

The Matrix Triumvirate

Somebody's got shiny hair.

Somebody’s got shiny hair.

I watched The Matrix for the first time just before this picture with my friend lx, and he said to me in the middle of it: “I like Neo’s coat. Get me Neo’s coat, Jen.”

So I did. Except it was in a picture. And chibified. Eee, chibified lx is cute. Also included are N as Morpheus, since he’s ‘older’ than us, and I’m Trin because I’m a girl. Also I like her shiny shiny leather vinyl spandex? clothing stuff. The Triumvirate part comes from an idea of lx’s, that we three should be a composing triumvirate, especially after the part where Christopher said he prays nightly that we should become composers.

I might yet become a composer. Just not full time, and not at UVic. So that dream should not be wholly abandoned. : P

That’s a rifle I’m holding demurely behind my back.

Protector

"Haaaaalp! I'm getting eaten by this cloak!"

“Haaaaalp! I’m getting eaten by this cloak!”

Wow, I attempted perspective!

This is a picture of Flairé, my guardian and guide, walking with me through the dirty, grungy, dark-shadowed city full of unsavoury types that is the path of life. He and I didn’t come out too badly, and neither did the background… now I just have to finish the random unsavoury NPCs that are just standing around, brawling or whatever. And put a zillion times more detail on everything. And find that tilt for Flairé’s head, and then COLOUR the blamey thing. Hey, I used a ruler. That’s part of my success. : D

Thirdly, I stayed up way too late again and finished Chapter 3 of The Tactician and the Jewel. Now I have to figure out just how one of the good guys caves so quickly in just one chapter, how the boss reveals so much about his boss, what the king thinks about all of this, what point Ocery has in intimidating someone who is trying to hang out of the story, and how to give Andy and Frank a nice big minor part.

My Friends

"Don't worry, Illinia! We're here to save you from the evil blue bug aliens!" "Uhhhh, thanks!"

“Don’t worry, Lashyoillinia! We’re here to save you from the evil blue bug aliens!” “Uhhhh, thanks!”

Soooo…. this one needs a whack of explanation. Actually it doesn’t, never mind. I had a weird dream, a weird weird dream, and the end of it was mixed up Independence Day and Star Fox for GC. I was running around an increasingly ruined city full of skyscrapers and green hills, trying to dodge blue diamond insectoid aliens shooting at me. With what, I forget, which I regret because it was kind of cool. I also regret that I can’t remember if I was shooting back or not.

Anyway, when I was getting kind of outnumbered, Flairé and Flaria showed up and pulled me under cover, and then we sat just about like this for a few seconds. It was nice. I forgot my glasses again. But Flaria was wearing a tunic, not her usual gown. I’m still not happy with this picture. Flairé’s upper half is okay, and bits of us other two, but on the whole it’s not right anatomically and it doesn’t look like us. How dissatisfying.

Lisztomania

Whoohoo. I'm thrilled. -_-7

Whoohoo. I’m thrilled. -_-7

I have to say… sweatdrop. Y’know, that anime convention that an embarrassed or exasperated character has a large rain-drop shape on the back/side of their head.

This picture is a long-running joke at school… One of my friends just loves the movie “Lisztomania”. Which begins straight away with something I don’t want to see. Apparently a metronome is involved, and then I stopped listening to the preview discussion. So, this friend holds a party once a year where everyone (everyone interested) all goes to watch it. lx-sama once asked if I was going, and I replied “I’d rather gouge my eyes out with a rusty screwdriver first”. That inspired him to a fit of that deep chuckling giggling that sets everyone in the area either giggling too or backing away slowly. It’s a little sinister. Very gratifying, personally. A different time, I told him I would come if my head was swathed in so much duct tape I could hear nothing and see nothing. I think. Correct me if I’m wrong, guys? Anyway, there was some talk of duct tape and eyeballs, but I don’t really remember what happened. All I really remember is this picture, in which Flairé kindly did swath my head in duct tape and let lx-sama drag me off hyperly. Hooray for excited chibis. You can see I misspelled Liszt the first time. Pickles. This picture did amuse lx-sama greatly, so that objective was accomplished.

Sort of mixed media; Flairé is in pencil because he’s the most realistic. I love Flairé. He takes such good care of me.

lx has shiny hair.

Self with wings

Ooh, sweet! A haircut and contacts AND wings!

Ooh, sweet! A haircut and contacts AND wings!

This is a picture I drew soon after getting a haircut and a long time after this picture, which has shorter hair and wings. After drawing the big figure, I realized that I had glasses, so I drew the top head to clarify for my satisfaction what I looked like, sort of kind of. I suspect a great deal of the whole picture is stylized. Nice wings. I wish I did have those.
