Rekka no Ken: The Tactician and the Dragons: The Berserker and Valourous Roland

Chapter 7: Cog of Destiny           Chapter 9: Sands of Time

This chapter is incredibly long. I blame NaNoWriMo. I would like to thank the Aldnoah.Zero OST for helping with the Karel vs. Lloyd duel which took way too many days to resolve, Dark Pit for helping with Eliwood’s passage of the maze, and You Will Know Our Names for helping with Eliwood’s battle with Georg. I have nearly two other chapters ready as well; in fact, if you’re reading this the same day I publish it, you’ve probably already clicked back to here from those new chapters. : P

Did I mention this chapter is INCREDIBLY LONG? Continue reading

Chapter 6: Battle Before Dawn          Chapter 8: The Berserker and Valourous Roland

Holy crap, a chapter. When was the last time I updated this blog? It’s definitely time for a design overhaul. And to upload all the stuff that’s only been on DA for the last year. But first, NaNoWriMo! First goal this year – finish this dang story! Second goal this year – write the alternate ending sequel! Third goal – more Rifted Riders stuff. Release the dramallamas!

This chapter is pretty long, but looking ahead, the next chapters shouldn’t be TOO bad. The last couple chapters will probably be pretty long again, though. Continue reading

Chapter 5: Pale Flower of Darkness         Chapter 7: Cog of Destiny

Okay, so this chapter took longer than I thought it would… I don’t know, the beginnings of chapters are super easy to write! And then the second halves are always really hard. Anyway, it’s up, and we only have five left and an epilogue. Which is not bad. I wrote a little over 100,000 words, which is quite good, considering how busy with other things I’ve been. *checks to-do list* Hmm. Lots of things left to do. *restrains self from searching DA for more Cry fanart* This story will be done by Christmas. And then… I have many other ideas to set to words, so I’m sure I’ll keep going after that. Writing’s been a bit of an addiction this year, hasn’t it? : o

Also, I’m looking for more work! And if that includes artwork, that’s fine with me. But I’m most happy with music work, so if you live in the London, ON area, look me up if you need someone.

P.S. Harken has depression. I hope I didn’t botch the representation of that. Please forgive me if you feel that I did, and let me know how I can make it better. Continue reading

Chapter 4: Unfulfilled Heart         Chapter 6: Battle Before Dawn

I’m not finishing this story before November 30th unless I really move on it, which is not likely to happen. XD But it will be finished soon after, don’t worry. I’m not going to let it languish! Just the last couple of days I’ve been busy with actual work and been too tired to write decent stuff. But here is another chapter.

Chapter 5: Pale Flower of Darkness

Hyperion nose-dived into the rocky soil, screaming and clawing the whole way down. Heath was flung off and lay unmoving. Priscilla was rapidly moving out of position, no longer screaming Heath’s name, urging her mare to a gallop.

“Pegasus knights, give Priscilla some cover!” Ceniro called. The rest of the battlefield was fortunately more or less taking care of itself, and right now he just cared about saving Heath and luring Vaida into a trap that would at least force her to withdraw, if not kill her.

Priscilla got to Heath’s side, dropped off her horse, and knelt beside him. Vaida was swinging around, when a trio of lightening-fast white flashes got in her way. Her wyvern snapped at them, but they were too quick and dodged away. Continue reading

Chapter 3: Four-Fanged Offense         Chapter 5: Pale Flower of Darkness

It SNOWED last night. Couldn’t make it to church this morning, man. There was like two feet of snow on Mandy (my car) and very few people made it out of my apartment’s parking lot.

Still, I have been writing a great deal, and especially after last night’s creativity bomb, I can’t wait to write more and more and more. And I have a The Tactician AU, which is pretty cool! (As mentioned last chapter.) I will write it someday, but right now Tolly is really enthusiastic about it which is exceedingly heartwarming.

Chapter 4: Unfulfilled Heart

“Eliwood!” Hector shouted.

“All right,” Eliwood said, his voice deliberately calm. “If you must.”

“What?” Linus asked Eliwood, his choking grip loosening slightly. “Are you crazy?”

Eliwood still wasn’t struggling. “I noticed something during the battle. You drew us out of the village, and made every effort to make no trouble for the villagers.”

“Well, of course! You’re our target, not them.”

“The Black Fang isn’t evil,” Eliwood said. “You fight with honour. So why are we on different sides?” Continue reading

Chapter 2: Living Legend         Chapter 4: Unfulfilled Heart

Suuuuper long chapter, because these guys just started talking and talking and it’s great but it doesn’t really move the plot along. Anyway, I took a day off to recharge my brain, because this chapter took a long time to write, too. But for a few days things should go faster. I hope.

Also, I didn’t mention it yet, but surreptitiously I’m assuming that pretty much everyone changed class at the beginning of Vol 4., except of course Eliwood, Lyn, and Hector. So that’s why you’ll see references to magic users using staves, and staff users using magic, and various weapon users using weapons that they couldn’t before. It’s not supposed to be a big deal, just these people are leveling up and becoming awesome! However, their primary weapons are their starting weapons. So, Lucius isn’t going to become mega-focused on healing people, even though in-game I use him that way (in addition to blasting everyone in the vicinity with Light magic. Light is so good; it’s fast and lightweight and has decent damage), but Ceniro will call on him to do so now and again. Like at the end of this chapter.

Problem: I have written Ceniro/Lyn so distinctly I’m not sure how to turn it into Lyn/Hector now.

Other problem: I have a plot bunny for an alternate epilogue, in which Pent and Louise ARE kicked out of Reglay County and join Ceniro, who is totally fine, and they go and are mercenaries on the run, wandering the lands and, I guess, trying to clear Pent’s name. I also suppose this could be an alternate universe in which Lyn does go with Ceniro, despite Hector’s… charms. And by charms, I mean abs, and Lyn means courage and blunt generosity. lol (This alternate universe would also probably be one in which FE6 doesn’t take place, or at least Klein and Clarine’s roles are at least slightly different, even if Pent and Louise return home eventually.)

I also have some ideas for the Adhemlenei book (spoilers: IT’S ALL MARTETH’S FAULT wait what?) and a new super-sekrit long-term project involving Jayce, and Hrulash has been fidgeting fidgetily. I might have to give him some attention soon. After I finish this story, that logo, and learn two difficult pieces of music. Continue reading

Chapter 1: Kinship’s Bond         Chapter 3: Four-Fanged Offense

Well, there’s another chapter! Whoo Pent. Errybody loves Pent. I had a bit of trouble getting more than an impression for the underground part. I had a very strong vague impression, though. Lol. Anyway, I think this chapter might be a bit longer than usual. But not compared to the next chapter… Lots of exposition next chapter!

This chapter is the first place in my life that I read the word ‘brusque’, and I mispronounced it for several years afterward, so in consideration of my younger self, I have replaced it with a different word. : P

This story is now officially over 50,000 words, so I have ‘won’ NaNo in the more traditional way of writing 50,000 words on one story. But I’m at over 75,000. : P I’ll make it to at least 100,000 yet! Hopefully with enough time left over to maybe do some work on another story, like putting down some scenes from the Rifted Riders, or maybe finishing the JARVIS stuff. (I will post the JARVIS stuff too, but probably not until it’s been edited a few times – it’s pretty rough right now. I’m not used to writing modern day real life-AUs! With computers and stuff! I don’t think I’m cut out to write Clintasha, though, so I’ll just leave that where it is. XD Star Wars prequels can get written next NaNo, and I’ll start working on the Adhemlenei rewrite again come December. Along with playing some of my unplayed video games and learning to draw and working on my next organ concert and working on work music and wheee so much to do! (*continues writing FE7*) Continue reading

Kinship’s Bond alternate boss battles

Kent vs. Eubans

“Kent,” he said. “You’re up.”

“It is an honour to be chosen,” Kent said, though a certain tightness in his neck gave away his nervousness.

“You are sending a mere boy to fight me?” Eubans cried, insulted.

And that put Kent’s hackles up. “I am the Commander of the Caelin Knights. I was trained by General Wallace.”

“He might be young, but he’s good,” Sain called. “Good as they come. He can take you!”

“Age means nothing when combined with skill,” Fiora chimed in. Ceniro nodded. Considering most of the army was under the age of 25, and some of them still in their mid-teens… but most of them had chosen or been forced into mercenary work from a young age, so experience was not exactly lacking, either. They just didn’t have as much as Eubans.

“You are still young and weak. But your general chose you… Very well. I shall fight you as a knight. Come!” Continue reading

Vol. 3: The Tactician and the Black Fang: Chapter 10: New Resolve          Chapter 2: Living Legend

This chapter was fairly interesting to write. And I wrote four versions of the boss battle, corresponding to the four people Ceniro suggested. I’ll post the alternate versions shortly. I’m partial to Kent’s version. EDIT: they are up.

Vol. 4: The Tactician and the Dragons

Chapter 1: Kinship’s Bond

The continent of Elibe basked in the late summer sun. On the surface, peace reigned supreme. Farmers worked, mostly undisturbed by bandits or the wars of the nobles; in the cities, merchants bartered their goods. Little showed of the recent turmoil that had churned up half of Lycia.

Eliwood, Hector, Lyn, and their group journeyed west towards Ostia the next day and the day after, passing along the coastline of Laus. On the second day, they stopped for lunch at an old fortress on the Ostia/Laus border, lightly manned because of the existence of a much more modern and formidable fortress two kilometres east. Ceniro spent the time among the ranks, getting to know the newer faces as people and not just faces and weapons, though old friends demanded his attention as well. Wil was fussing over his feet again. Continue reading

Chapter 9: Dragon’s Gate         Vol. 4: The Tactician and the Dragons: Chapter 1: Kinship’s Bond

Wow, people were talkative this chapter, and not necessarily on plot! I am pleased. This is why I like writing! Going to try to continue this character-developing interaction next chapter, plus a bit more interesting action. Also, this is the end of Part III yayyyyyyyy only 10 more chapters (maybe) to goooooo

I read the Fire Emblem 4 script yesterday on Serenes Forest.net… and I don’t hate the game as much as I used to. Still, it’s not one of my favourites. And it’s really confusing. Gonna read Thracia 766’s script sometime, too.

Naptime. Continue reading
