Rekka no Ken: The Tactician and the Black Fang: Dragon’s Gate

Chapter 8: The Dread Isle         Chapter 10: New Resolve

Oh my, I made it through another chapter! I really don’t think there is any effective way to capture Elbert’s death. There really isn’t. It’s just… one of those moments that stabs you in the heart every time you play it, but to read it… just doesn’t do it justice.

Also yes, that is the end of the Salir Was Kidnapped storyline. Nothing happened to her. She’s fine. Anticlimax a bit, yes, but at least Sain can stop acting like a weirdo now. She’ll have a few things to say next chapter that will illustrate her brief life on the Dread Isle. And then… I can’t wait until we’re off to Ostia and Nabata! Whoo! (who can guess why… PENTPENTPENTPENTPENT lol )

I just found out that 1) Fire Emblem (12?) – Mystery of the Emblem remake is not available in North America (MADNESS also tragedy) because FE (13) – Awakening apparently means that they don’t need to release MotE? I don’t understand and want to play MotE anyway? But at least Marth looks like he’s going to be pretty in the next Super Smash Bros. game, which will be available for the 3DS! (I need a 3DS. But first I need to get my car tuned or whatever they do at garages. Among other things.)

Okay, going to make supper and then write Chapter 10. And that will be the end of this section and I can start Part IV: The Tactician and the Dragons! Yay! And then I can check another thing off my long-term to-do list! Continue reading

Chapter 7: The Pirate Ship         Chapter 9: Dragon’s Gate

Loooong chapter is long, mostly because it deals with the aftermath of Chapter 7 and then stuff two side-chapters into it. Also will edit tomorrow. Last line is lame. Entire chapter stuffed with llamas. Dramallamas.

EDIT: I found the perfect picture for part of this!

Chapter 8: The Dread Isle

“Hello, lovely ladies,” Sain said, attempting to grin like his whole world wasn’t currently hanging by a thread.

Rebecca shied away from him, her lip curled. “Your wife just got kidnapped and you’re hitting on-!”

“Don’t mind him,” Serra said, for once being the voice of understanding and reason. “He’s trying to pretend everything’s normal. Even last year when she was right there, he would flirt with anything female. And, come to think of it, she would flirt with all the boys, too.” She moved over. “Sain, honey, it’s okay. Keep your hope alive. She’s surely wreaking havoc on the Black Fang right now, toying mercilessly with their affections.”

Sain broke slightly. “But… she’s not. He’s probably… I can’t even…”

Serra slapped him in the face. “Pull yourself together! This is just what he wants, to use her to break your spirit. You’re a man and a knight, and even if you can’t save her, you’re going to destroy him, understand? You need to hold it together until then. Understand me?”

Sain’s face set, though he was still swallowing violently. “Yes, ma’am.” Continue reading

Chapter 6: Whereabouts Unknown      Chapter 8: The Dread Isle

Blahhhhh this chapter also took a long time to write. Partly because I was actually busy with work stuff and partly because I’m trying still again to fix my sleep schedule and it’s tiring (ha). I did rearrange my room so my bed’s under the window. Now it feels like a whole new room, somehow. XD Also my computer is now stationed at my armchair so hopefully it’ll be a tiny bit better for my musculoskeletal health than before.

Chapter 7: The Pirate Ship

“The whoziwhat?” Hector asked. “Lyn, you have a legion?”

Lyn shook her head even as she chased Kent and Sain. “Just a silly thing from last year.”

Ceniro ran beside her, and glanced back at his resources. “Florina, give Lyn a lift. Lowen, get Erk up there. Priscilla, you too. There’s a lot of armour knights up there and Sain’s going to be pummelled without you two.”

Sure enough, Sain’s wild charge had been halted at a line of heavily armoured footsoldiers. His horse pranced, reflecting the agitation of its rider. Sain screamed in frustration and flung his lance at a soldier, disturbingly accurately, and drew his sword – a tactically suicidal move. Florina swished past, and Lyn leapt from the pegasus’s back and rolled, coming up in a crouch with her sword gripped ready behind her. Ceniro placed himself at the entrance to the throne room and began barking orders. Continue reading

Chapter 5: Noble Lady of Caelin        Chapter 7: Pirate Ship

So, this chapter is not my best writing, and I got stuck at the end, because I’m going to be meen to Sain (oh Sain, darling, don’t worry, it’s only temporary) but I wasn’t sure how to work it in and my inventiveness was starting to fail the battle. Then I started listening to the Path of Radiance battle tunes and I think things have been straightened out again now. Still, I didn’t write very much today.

This chapter is short, but the next chapter is going to be super long, even with glossing over the fight at Badon. You have been warned.

I also went out and bought a new sketchbook, and I’m going to learn to draw because argh there is not enough good fanart of the characters I like. Must- add- to- sum- of- fanart! D: Although so far I’ve managed to draw both Sain and Kent with their hair parted on the wrong side. : P Oh well? I also managed to draw Salir and Ceniro somewhat okay. Ceniro’s getting a tiny bit of a redesign. I mean, he is once I learn to draw gooder.

I’m also considering a clean up of the whole blog. THE WHOLE BLOG. Since I don’t get any visitors, I don’t think anyone will miss it if I clear out the worst of the archives. Dissenters, speak now or forever hold your peace! Continue reading

Chapter 4: False Friends      Chapter 6: Whereabouts Unknown

So much banter in this chapter. Not to mention Wil becoming Doge. Oh dear. Yay, Lyn is back! And the rest of the boys! Let the awkward love triangles commence! Heehee.

One more for tonight! I’m very close to a total of 40,000 words, although this particular story is still only around 15,000. I’ll probably try to get 50,000 on this story and that will fulfill my NaNo… uh… 50,000 words on one story goal. Or something.

Listening to the FE9 soundtrack, because it’s not so bad once you get past all the stupid reverb they added to hide the fact that they’re using synthesized instruments. An overkill of overcompensation. Continue reading

Chapter 3: In Search of Truth      Chapter 5: Noble Lady of Caelin

Wow, such a difficult chapter to write. I don’t know why. But the next chapter is looking back up, possibly because LYN’S BACK LYN’S BACK also all the Sain, plz. And Kent. And Florina. And Wil. Yay. *snuggles* And I guess we pick up the Wilrina…? Is that a good ship name? I don’t know. I’m being silly. Let’s keep writing.

Talons Alight is snuck in between these two chapters, but it seriously adds no plot besides “Eubans wuz here except not really” so it’s a bit glossed over. The important part is that Florina’s pegasus sits on Hector five days later.

Chapter 4: False Friends

Ceniro was passing through the halls of Santaruz Castle, on his way to the courtyard to meet the rest of his group, averting his eyes from all the strange people around him, when he heard a cough.

“Ceniro.”

He turned and looked around in confusion, but only saw a guard in Santaruz colours. He blinked at him, and then his eyes widened in realization. Continue reading

Chapter 2: Bird of a Feather      Chapter 4: False Friends

Will start the next chapter, but probably won’t finish it until tomorrow. Still, we’re trucking along, here. And I am going through way too much chocolate. XD (Oh Cadbury, you are both delicious and affordable.) Also roasted seaweed. (mmmmm.)

Despite the battle being a pain to write, I actually enjoyed large parts of this chapter. Also I cracked (in total wordcount) over 30,000 words, so we’re in great shape.

Next chapter! Ceniro’s little brother! Erk! Conspiracy! More fighting, because this is a strategy game! Erik is a dramallama! And more!

Also tomorrow I am going to go hear Les Choristes sing at lunchtime, because Jen Moir’s choirs are great. (She should totally start a website called Jen Moir’s Choirs. I think it would be a hit. 😀 ) Continue reading

Chapter 1: Taking Leave         Chapter 3: In Search of Truth

Whoop whoop, another chapter done. Two more on their way! I’m getting all kinds of plot twists and connections that never occurred to me before. Good thing I didn’t try to write this when I was younger, lol.

Happy November 5? Or whatever? Look, have some Gullac, go party. I gotta write.

Chapter 2: Birds of a Feather

“Eliwood,” Ceniro said hesitantly, early in the morning on the next day. “You were saying Lord Helman, Marquess Santaruz, is a good friend of your father’s, right?”

“Yes, I’ve known him since I was a child. He’s like an uncle to me.”

“If we’re worried about Laus’s military, perhaps we could ask him to help provide us with an escort?”

“That’s a good idea,” Eliwood answered. “When my father left a month ago, he took twenty of the best knights of Pherae with him, and none returned. I left the rest at home to guard mother. I only really need Marcus and Lowen.”

“I understand.” Continue reading

Vol. 2: The Tactician and the Jewel: Chapter 10: The Farseer         Chapter 2: Birds of a Feather

Okay! It’s NaNoWriMo again, and having written about twenty thousand words on a Jarvis fic (which may or may not end up here) and about three thousand on a Clintasha fic (abandoned for the moment as I can’t get into their messed-up heads or lives, despite having read a ton of fanfic about them), I’m beginning the first big project, which is of course the finishing of the Rekka no Ken novelization. Which is Fire Emblem 7, for those of you keeping track. I’ll try to get the first ten or so chapters done, and then maybe take a break. I think Vol. 3 (this one) might be actually longer than ten chapters, considering that it takes ten chapters to go to the Dread Isle and back for the first time, and the Black Fang doesn’t really get revealed until after that; and the dragons don’t come in until closer to the end… so this might be a bit more irregular than the first two ‘books’.

I’m greatly looking forward to finishing this story, and it’s not going to follow most of the dialogue, because I find most of it stilted. I love Hector’s dialogue, however… not to mention Hector’s shirtless body

Pairings! For those of you interested in that sort of thing: Eliwood/Ninian, Ceniro(tactician)/Lyn/Hector, Florina/Wil, Fiora/Kent, Farina/Dart, Sain/Salir(OC), Rebecca/Lowen, Pent/Louise, Heath/Priscilla, Matthew/Leila, Bartre/Karla, Nino/Jaffar, Isadora/Harken, Ephidel/Limstella – pretty standard vanilla pairings for the most part, but hey, nothin’ wrong with that. : ) And not all of these might make a solid appearance. Certain things like Bartre/Karla you might just have to take on faith seeing as FE6 is the way it is if you know what I mean. (Hey, it’s 4am, who said I had to be coherent?)

So here goes. Thank you to the internet for giving me the game text, so I don’t have to actually play it and record it by hand and then not use it anyway. XD Continue reading

Chapter 9: Holy Maiden          Rekka no Ken: Vol 3: The Tactician and the Black Fang: Chapter 1: Taking Leave

Chapter 10: The Farseer

Pent walked forward and touched the ice that sealed in Eshan. The defeated lord’s eyes were nearly bugged out. Pent’s eyebrow twitched and he turned away.

Yodel bent to pick up the Holy Maiden Staff and touched it to Pent’s shoulder. The staff glowed a little, and Pent’s colour returned and he didn’t cough anymore. Yodel went next to Roger and then Erk.

“I hope you are unharmed, Your Majesty,” Pent said to King Mordred, who was cleaning and sheathing his silver sword.

King Mordred nodded. “I am, and so are my wife and son. We are completely shocked, Reglay, completely and utterly shocked. What could have happened to Lord Eshan?”

“Lust for power,” Pent answered. “I still can’t understand what was going through his head…”

“But if you had not come, we do not think we would be alive now. Eshan would not only have taken over Elimine’s Church, he would have usurped the monarchy.” The door of the throne room came unlocked and several troops of guards poured through. Douglas motioned to them to take the iced-up Eshan away.

Pent bowed. “It is always my duty to serve Etruria.” Continue reading
