Sacae is a wonderful honeymoon getaway

This picture I drew because I’m a hopeless romantic and I like the Hector and Lyn pairing. Besides which, I have this wierd habit where the music I’m listening to becomes related to a current fad in my head. This was part of an Enya phase, so the Shepherd Moons CD has become inextricably tangled with Middle Earth in general, and many of the songs there with Esgalwen in particular – except for the Afer Ventus song, which has Zela stamped on it. Parts of The Celts and Watermark became associated with Fire Emblem. Other parts are still miscellaneous, or make me think of Zela. A Day Without Rain is more Esgalwen – er, I mean Middle Earth. The Lazy Day song at the end, though, that’s for me as in human artist girl.

So, Hector and Lyn are on a date in Sacae to the tune of Sun in the Stream from The Celts. I still need to learn how to draw hands. And I’m no good at drawing romantic pictures anyway. Blah.

Ironically, the brilliant tactician is the first to die

This is near the end of Chapter 30 from the game, whatever it’s called… I’m just going to make up chapter names for all but the Prologue, which is the only one anyone ever remembers anyway. So. Voila. Er… Ceniro is tacticianing, and gets shot with an arrow. And everybody is sad. Terrible anatomy, but at least Hector has a big axe, and although Eliwood’s cloak is missing, he has a nice rendition of his rapier. That building in the distance on the right is the fabled Dragon’s Gate, sort of, and the two blobs on the left are Fiora and Florina skewering the archer with a longbow/ballista who shot Ceniro. This picture just goes to show why scenery/backgrounds are not my strong point. Also there was going to be a wyvern rider in the sky, either Heath or an enemy, but I cropped him out.

The first story translated into English and my tactician Ceniro collide in an unfinished half-scripted novelization.

EDIT: I first published these chapters in 2007. Having gone back to them in preparation for writing Anima’s Seal this NaNoWriMo in 2015, I no longer feel this first volume stands up and I feel no regret over completely rewriting it without leaving a copy of the original on my blog (that no one reads anyway : D). And hey, it’s kind of refreshing to be able to write chapters that are under 5 pages long, can you believe it??

EDIT2: based on feedback from my beta reader and the fact that I can’t sleep, I’m editing this fic so that it sucks less.

The young man walked steadily on his way, striding through the knee-deep yellow grasses of the Sacaean plains. He was rather short, and his pace was unhurried. The sun beat on his pale-green cloaked back, and suddenly he looked around and narrowed his grey eyes.

Spying on Bern

Whoo! (cheers) This is a terrific picture! And not just because I messed up the perspective, left out King Desmond’s hands because they’re too hard for me to draw and have them look like hands, covered the three heroes with cloaks because a) they’re wearing them in the game and b) I hated drawing from this angle! Ha! Ahaha! No, this picture rules all other Fire Emblem pictures becaaaaauuuuse… it has the very first appearance of Ceniro, my tactician! Pronounce his name either Japanese or Quenya, it doesn’t matter – keh NEER row. It’s from Quenya, though that might not be too obvious at first – I had a friend named Jessica, and her name is supposed to mean “she who sees” although some people say Shakespeare coined it to mean “wealthy woman”. I looked up her name, along with other people I knew, and kept that little bit of trivia in the back of my mind. When I came across it again, I thought… that would be a great name for a tactician! I changed it to Ceniro from Cenira, because… I forget why, and the quiet little green-cloaked man in brown took to the field, to accompany Lady Lyn, Lord Eliwood, and Lord Hector on their epic quest. I’m not sure how I imagined him to draw him this way… all I can remember is the finished version right now.

This picture is of the part where the heroes sneak into the enemy’s castle to find out what he’s plotting. The wicked king of the country of Bern is talking to the sinister and sexy Sonia (who seriously needs to brush her hair) who is the servant of the evil mad nemesis, Nergal, who is somewhere else. Fortunately, with the clues they get from the baddies’ incriminating conversation, the good guys (L-R Hector, Lyn, Eliwood) can save the day!

Fire Emblem! Wha!

Ahem. This picture is of four of the characters of Fire Emblem 7: Rekka no Ken (Blazing Sword) and they are in a rock band.

Why? Who knows? Well, I now have to tell you my life story, so hold tight. I was playing Super Smash Bros. Melee with my friend Bobby, and I liked being one of these two handsome swordsmen with long cloaks, and I asked him about them, and he didn’t know much, but he told me that Roy was a prince and Marth was some other guy, and they both came from this game called Fire Emblem. I forgot the name several times, but then I began to research it on the Internet, and I found some sites that talked about it. They were talking about the newest (at the time) game, which would be the first to be officially released in English.

Soon after, I read a copy of Nintendo Power somewhere (I sure didn’t own it… school library, maybe?) and was formally introduced to all the characters of the first ten levels, along with a brief walkthrough and a ‘how this game works’ article. Wow, was I intrigued.

So, I was listening to the Alan Parsons Project CD we have, and I started imagining Sain singing the lead… and this picture followed. I plotted out where all the others would stand, but I never got around to drawing them.

Kent took more time than the others, as I was a bit afraid of him since he didn’t have any official art that got released in North America. He was started on December the 2nd, and finished January the 19th, and he still didn’t come out that well! Anyway, I’ll just put a couple of things below about the cast in this crazy excursion…

My favourites are Eye in the Sky, Time, Don’t Let it Show, and Old and Wise.

In Time, the singer sounds a lot like Kent does in my head. That’s why I put Kent as singing it. Don’t Let it Show is very beautiful, and I imagine Sain writing it for his girlfriend.

SPOILER FOR MY STORY (which hasn’t been put up here yet…)
Old and Wise almost perfectly describes Eliwood after his tactician is killed in the second-last chapter. I had to change a couple of lines:
you follow(ed) where I go
I’ll miss you when you go
When they ask you if you knew me (they being people in the afterlife – not changed, but context added)
as the final curtain falls o’er your eyes
