This is Kevin’s Bretonnian Sorceress, which I painted because I wanted to. I had trouble with the saddle, but again, I like the dress.

Elladan and Elrohir
I was given these two, the Sons of Elrond, for Christmas – but I don’t remember which Christmas. Anyway, here they are in all their mediocrely painted glory, and whichever the tabs on the bases say they are, they’re the opposite. I think Elrohir is the one in red. Yes, yes, he is. So Elladan is the one in yellow.
When I first started painting these guys, Elladan I base coated his tunic orange. That looked awful. Dad suggested brown. This was done using the Citadel paints, as we had acquired some in the interim between the Silver Helms and these. They were much easier to use, as I found the Tamiya rather watery. (Citadel is for those who want instant results) It was also Dad’s idea that the blades of the swords be plain metal, as these are metal miniatures. You’ll see this on probably every single metal model I get. I just sanded it, but due to inexperience I didn’t cover them when they were sprayed black (undercoat) so they needed to be sanded again, and it was a lot harder the second time! I also got some advice from various people about highlighting black hair, and some people suggested blue, because grey or white will make the hair look dark grey instead of black, but I think I did okay. Used Flesh Wash on the faces, and the first time Elladan looked “like he had a head wound” so most of his was removed and painted the layering way.
I really, really like Elrohir’s tunic.
Suldal
Lastly, we have Suldal, or Windfoot. As such, I’m not sure why he signed up to be in the cavalry. He often runs alongside, almost as swift as a horse himself. But, in the end, he adores horses and likes the feel of a lance at high speed, and no one in an infantry regiment would be able to keep up with him, so if he charged with a spear he’d leave the rest behind and that’s not good tactics. So that must be why he rides with the Celebthol.
Tarthalion
And now we have Tarthalion, whose name means “noble and steadfast”. As such, he must be the voice of extended wisdom in the group. Perhaps he has an interest in gardening. Yeah, that sounds good.
Mithalqua
The lad on show today is Mithalqua, the guy with the interest in water. His name means Grey Swan, and so he has silver wings on his helmet and a silver shield. He rides just behind Falamir. Pretty jewels, eh?
Gilglin
This is Gilglin, the ‘firebrand’ of the group, as denoted by his shield. Actually, just kidding. He’s quite cool, though he can get a bit excited. He likes sports, whatever kinds of sports elves have…
I like the way I did the flames on his shield and his helmet. It’s Tamiya red ink over silver. Turned out very well.
Silros
Silros up today! Silros is a poet, because he has heart jewels everywhere. Yes, that makes a lot of sense (sarcasm). Anyway, um, yeah. He’s a poet. That’s just his entire life, except of course for chopping up bad guys in the cavalry. He also is friends with Falamir, a bit, and he’s the other guy who’s always in the front rank (on Elfin’s right).
